Sharing the Wisdom of Dr. Lui Che Woo at the CEO Forum

“What qualities do we seek in the leaders of the new generation?” This was a question posed to many enthusiastic business alumni during the CEO Forum at the InterContinental Grand Stanford Hong Kong on 20 March. The event was jointly organised by the EMBA Program and the Alumni and Corporate Affairs Office of the CUHK Business School. It was a splendid evening with over 200 alumni, students and K. Wah staff coming together to enjoy a leisurely reception and network in a relaxed atmosphere. All who attended have benefited from Dr. Lui’s philosophies on business and life.

Beijing Annual Dinner: A Tight-knit Network Founded on Sincerity and Affection

President Dennis Pak of the CUHK Business School Beijing Alumni Association invited the Director of Alumni and Corporate Affairs of the CUHK Business School Florence Lai to their Annual Dinner on 25 February. This was the first time she had visited an alumni association outside of Hong Kong since taking up her challenging position last year. She returned from the trip inspired to build a stronger network with the more than 24,000 alumni worldwide, and looks forward to introducing a number of new initiatives in the years to come.

BiG Soft Launch Opens to Big Applause

The Center BiG soft launch on 17 March kicked off with its first official forum featuring an address titled 'The Digital Divide is Re-shaping the World – Tremendous New Opportunities and Challenges for Businesses Today and Tomorrow', which was delivered by the CEO of News Corporation China Investments Dr. Jack Gao. He highlighted the challenges that accompany the evolution of technology in the 21st century. It is believed that the companies and people who are bridging the digital divide will create greater business opportunities and generate huge wealth. “We should all embrace the digital revolution,” said Dr. Gao. This was the first in a range of high-calibre events organised for the Center BiG in the near future.

CUMBA 45th Anniversary Gala Dinner Concludes
with Great Success

On 3 March, the Gala Dinner to commemorate the 45th Anniversary of the CUMBA was held at the Grand Ballroom of the Conrad Hotel, Hong Kong. The event was a great success, and marked an important milestone in CUMBA history. Nearly 600 guests including VIPs, sponsors, professors, colleagues, alumni and students filled the venue with their cheers and laughter. The highlight was an inspiring keynote speech by MBA alumnus and former CEO of the MTR Corporation Sir C. K. Chow. The night also featured a magic show and a lucky draw with fabulous prizes.

Hong Kong's First Corporate Social Responsibility
Research Scholarship

Recently, 27 BBA students were awarded the CUHK-SOCAM CSR Research Scholarship to conduct research on corporate social responsibility (CSR) in 9 countries across 4 continents. It was Hong Kong’s first CSR research scholarship, established by the CUHK and sponsored by SOCAM Development Limited. In an award presentation ceremony, Mr. Jason Leung was selected as the best researcher, and was awarded the title of the ‘SOCAM Corporate Social Responsibility Ambassador’. Another batch of 23 students will be selected to receive the research scholarship in the next academic term.
