Successful AGM and Elections Mark Another Milestone for Taiwan Alumni Association


On 4 May, the CUHK Business School Taiwan Alumni Association held its Annual General Meeting along with a dinner gathering in Taipei. CUHK sent an illustrious delegation for the historic event, including Ms. Connie Au, CUHK's Alumni Affairs Director; Prof. Cheung Wai Man, Chairman of the Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics; Prof. Howard Lam, Associate Director of the EMBA program, and Ms. Florence Lai, the Business School's Alumni and Corporate Affairs Director. A new board of 11 members was formed, with Mr. Paul Su of Formosa Transnational Attorneys at Law the elected President. We congratulate the new leadership and look forward to working closely with them.

Student Team Impresses with High Finish in International Investment Competition

Competing in the first-ever CQA Investment Challenge, a CUHK Business School Team won second runner-up in the global contest. The successful team comprised four Year-3 students – Jerry Chan, Amy Yung, Kate Chen and Isaac Leung – and was skilfully guided by Prof. Tobias Hekster and mentored by 1993 BBA alumnus Mr. Patrick Lee. The CQA competition exposes students to real-life hedge fund techniques and offers them an opportunity to learn and apply stock selection and portfolio management skills. Our heartfelt congratulations go to the high-achieving CUHK team and to Prof. Hekster and Mr. Lee on their impressive performance!


GBS Students Triumph as Hong Kong Champions of L'Oreal Competition


Three enterprising Global Business Studies Year-3 students won the Hong Kong Finals of L'Oreal Brandstorm 2013, a prestigious international marketing case competition. The three – Veronica Lau, Queenie Li and Peggy Tse – emerged victorious over teams from other universities in Hong Kong judged by a panel of L'Oreal executives. The triumphant CUHK team will compete in June at L'Oreal headquarters in Paris at the International Finals for a top prize against teams from 45 countries. We are proud of our inspiring marketing prodigies and wish them all the best!

Latest Edition of MBA CSR Conference Proves Successful Again

On 6 May, CUHK Business School alumni and students joined their fellow top executives, CSR professionals, SME owners and civil society members to share best practices at the 7th Annual CUHK MBA CSR Conference held in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This year's edition was titled 'CSR as a Growth Model for a Sustainable Asia' and tackled a number of pressing CSR issues and discussion points. By all accounts, the CUHK-organised event lived up to the Financial Times' glowing description of it as Asia's finest non-profit CSR conference. Please read the post-event report here.
