Dean T. J. Wong Bids Farewell

As some of you know, Dean T. J. Wong is concluding his deanship this month and will be succeeded by Prof. Vernon Hsu, effective 1 February. Dean Prof. Wong wishes to thank the alumni for their consistent and extensive support over the years, and he takes particular pride in continuing the Business School's rich tradition of innovation, including the opening of a business school this year in the new Shenzhen campus.

Win Prestigious Research Awards

Two CUHK Business School researchers were presented with the Young Researcher Award and Postgraduate Research Output Award on 21 November 2013 at the 74th Congregation for the Conferment of Degrees. Prof. Zhang Tianyu from Accountancy received the Young Researcher Award and a HK$100,000 grant for his research on China's transitional economy. Dr. Irene Huang Xun, a PhD student in the Marketing Department, received the Postgraduate Research Output Award and HK$25,000 for investigating how sensory and physical experiences influence behaviour.

Takes Centre Stage at Forum

Believing that corporate sustainability succeeds by engaging the supply chain, the South China Environmental and Safety Management Association and CUHK Business School co-organised the 'Corporate Sustainability Forum – Collaboration with the Supply Chain' on 12 December 2013. The forum attracted enthusiastic delegates, including association members and students from MBA, MSc in Information Technology Management, and MSc in Systems Engineering. Speakers hailed from renowned multinationals such as General Electric, HP and Li & Fung. Please read here.

Highlight MBA 2013 Graduation Dinner

More than 80 students and professors attended the graduation dinner for the 2013 Part-time MBA Classes on 14 December 2013. Special guests included Joseph Sung, CUHK Vice-Chancellor; T. J. Wong, Dean of the Business School; the Honourable Charles Mok, Legislative Councillor from IT Functional Constituencies; and Andrew Work, former Executive Director of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. Each guest delivered an inspiring speech drawing on his wide-ranging experience.

CUHK's plans are underway for the biggest and best CSR conference in Asia, scheduled for 28 May 2014 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. New Google Program
Empowers Young Entrepreneurs

A briefing session for the Empowering Young Entrepreneurs Program held on 11 January 2014 attracted approximately 200 attendees. Co-launched by Google and CUHK's Center for Entrepreneurship, the one-year program enables Hong Kong-based entrepreneurs aged 18 to 35 to learn from academics, successful entrepreneurs and Google experts as well as pitch ideas to investors.
