Marks His November 4th Start by Welcoming Alumni
Prof. Kalok Chan started his term as dean of the Business School on 4 November. As a former CUHK undergraduate who studied economics, the dean is enthusiastic about leading his alma mater to the next phase of growth with the support of 28,000 business professionals. He offered a warm welcome to everyone and conveyed his eager hope to collaborate with alumni and the corporate community to continue the journey of building a strong alumni network. Mr. Charles Li Earns Raves at Global Leader Series Talk
On 18 November, Mr. Charles Li, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, addressed over 300 distinguished attendees for the latest instalment of the popular Global Leader Series at the New World Millennium Hong Kong Hotel. Mr. Li spoke on the timely topic of 'Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect', focusing on the growing relationship between Hong Kong and China and how the respective markets can be further integrated and mutually beneficial. Professional Tips at Practical Workshop
A professional workshop titled 'Healthy Eating, Healthy Mind' was held on 25 October, gathering over 40 health-conscious alumni at Flame in Towngas Avenue in Tsimshatsui. Ms. Bernice Cheung, a registered dietician from the Centre for Nutritional Studies at CUHK, shared valuable tips on nutrition and a healthy diet. Participants applied what they learned by preparing two healthy dishes following easy recipes in a cooking demonstration. Alumni Volunteers Ready for
Christmas Party with Intellectually Disabled
Eager to spend a special festive season with fellow alumni while doing good, the Alumni and Corporate Affairs Office has organised a meaningful Christmas party to show love and care to the intellectually disabled. On 6 December, we will spend an enjoyable time with Hong Chi Association’s adult trainees, who are mildly-to-moderately intellectually disabled, at the non-profit’s sheltered workshop in Siu Sai Wan. The Christmas party will feature interesting games, a magic show, a lunch buffet, and a workshop visit. Prof. Joseph Fan Publishes New Book
on Family Business Succession
Prof. Joseph Fan of the Department of Finance and School of Accountancy recently had a book published, titled The Family Business Map, an authoritative guide offering useful tips for family business entrepreneurs encountering succession issues. Co-authored with Prof. Morten Bennedsen of INSEAD, the book helps family businesses improve their long-term planning and overcome expansion-related challenges. Congratulations to Prof. Fan on his achievement in addressing a pressing business concern.

First RBC Race for the Kids in Hong Kong
Draws Business School Alumni
Organised by the Boys' & Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong, the 'RBC Race for the Kids Hong Kong 2014' themed 'Heads Up, Get Moving' was successfully held on 9 November in Shatin. The charity run attracted more than 1,200 participants and raised over HK$1.3 million for underprivileged children and families. The event emphasised the importance of human relationships in this Information Age when many of us are addicted to electronic devices. Taiwan Alumni Association and Faculty Members
Connect at AGM and Annual Dinner
The CUHK Business School Taiwan Alumni Association convened its Third Annual General Meeting and hosted a memorable Annual Dinner on 4 October in Taipei. Over 100 Taiwanese alumni and friends attended, including faculty members flown in from Hong Kong. Prof. Vernon Hsu, then-dean of the Business School, expressed his wish to develop closer ties with the alumni in Taiwan. The program entailed a delicious buffet, live entertainment and a reporting session on past alumni activities and the association's upcoming plans.
