WeChat Workshop Shows Alumni
How It Can Drive New Business
A professional WeChat workshop was held on 6 May at the Collab training centre in Wanchai, attracting over 50 alumni from a range of sectors. The speaker, Mr. Ian Chan, Business Development Director for the International Business Group of Tencent Holdings Limited, ably demonstrated how businesses can benefit from the popular digital marketing platform in a competitive, ever-changing business world. Alumni were impressed by WeChat’s latest features and by its potential to play a critical role in formulating marketing strategies and driving new business. 'Doughnut' Backpacks Founder
Reveals Secrets to His Success
This month’s ‘Alumni Stories’ profile concerns Steven Cheng (BBA 2009), who is behind the backpack brand ‘Doughnut’. Steven taught himself design while he was at university, then decided to set up his business shortly after graduating. Having built his brand up from scratch and recently opened the stylish 22°N leather concept store in Sham Shui Po, Steven’s story of pursuing his dream and overcoming obstacles along the way is an inspiration to all aspiring entrepreneurs. Alumni Hear About Capital Markets at
Financial Forum in Shenzhen
The Shenzhen Alumni Network hosted its second event — the Shenzhen GEM & OTCBB Financial Forum — on Saturday, 25 April. More than 60 alumni and professionals from different programs at CUHK Business School joined this networking event, which was held at a restaurant in Shenzhen’s Futian District. Special guests included several senior staff and faculty members. At the forum, three senior alumni of the EMBA (Chinese) Program, who are experts in China’s capital markets, shared their experiences and insights with enthusiastic attendees.

Burgundy Appreciation Night
CUHK EMBA Alumni Association hosted a Burgundy Appreciation Night in Kwun Tong, attracting over 30 alumni and current students for what was a fun-filled gathering on the evening of 24 April. Participants took the opportunity to learn about different types of Burgundy from Mr. Kenrick Leung, a wine enthusiast in town, while enjoying a range of delicious refreshments. New MBA Courses to Help Graduates
Thrive in Changing Financial Industry
CUHK’s Business School MBA Program is responding to the changing dynamics of the financial industry by introducing new courses relating to risk management and compliance, project finance and venture capital. These courses will help students tap into a range of career opportunities resulting from the formation of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the ‘One Belt, One Road’ initiative proposed by Beijing. An interview with Prof. Michael Ferguson, Associate Dean (Graduate Studies) and Director of MBA Programs, recently appeared in Inside MBA, an online magazine published by The South China Morning Post. Business School Golfers Triumph at Mission Hills
The CUHKAGA 2015 2nd Annual Tournament and 2nd CUHK Alumni Inter-college Golf Competition were held on 25 March at Mission Hills Dongguan Rose-Poulter Golf Course. Teams from the Graduate School, United College, Chung Chi College and New Asia College, including over 40 CUHK alumni, competed. The Graduate School team comprised Business School alumni from our MBA, EMBA and OneMBA programs. We are delighted to report that the team was triumphant, becoming Gross Group Champion and New New Peoria Group Champion. Our heartfelt congratulations!

New EMBA (Chinese) Program Website
Launches with Enhanced Features and Content
A new website for the EMBA (Chinese) Program has been launched. The new site has more functions and contains more comprehensive information. It includes news about CUHK and the Business School, information on the EMBA (Chinese) Program’s activities and alumni events, alumni testimonials, as well as photos and videos for sharing. Taught in Putonghua, the two-year program combines theory and practice, and focuses on enhancing problem-solving skills to enable graduates to better face the challenges and opportunities presented by a rapidly changing business environment in Greater China. 'Young Entrepreneur Series' Talk Inspires Attendees

The BBA Alumni Association hosted the third event in its ‘Young Entrepreneur Talk Series’ on 18 March at the MBA Town Centre, with Ms. Liza Wang ― co-founder of one of Hong Kong’s leading digital marketing companies, Guru Online ― as guest speaker. In a presentation titled ‘The Roadmap of a Digital Marketing Pioneer’, Ms. Wang shared her reflections on her own entrepreneurial journey and her management philosophy. Many attendees were fascinated by her perspective on the opportunities presented by the Mainland market. Please read here.
