Young Business Leader on Innovation,
Inspiration and the Internet
At an early stage in his career, Mr. Alan Yip, founder of Guru Online, realised the power of the Internet. Soon after graduating from the CUHK Business School (BBA 2004), he got together with a group of friends and, after coming up with a number of ideas, settled on forming an Internet marketing company. Guru Online was born, and the rest is history. Today, Alan’s company is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and the 33-year-old chairman is well-known for his innovative management style, as well as the vibrancy and entrepreneurial spirit he instils in his teams of talented young people.

Christie’s Chairman Shares Inspiring Insights
at ‘Global Leader Series’ Talk
Nearly 300 participants flocked to the New World Millennium Hong Kong Hotel on 6 October to enjoy a talk by Mr. François Curiel, Chairman of Christie’s Asia Pacific. Entitled ‘A View from the Rostrum’, Mr. Curiel shared insights into the international art market and analysed changing artistic tastes. Mr. Curiel reflected that he enjoyed the experience and treasured the opportunity to share the things he learned throughout his 46 years in the industry with an ‘intelligent and enthusiastic audience’. Kai Tak Cruise Terminal with the Elderly

In partnership with ‘Helping Hand’, the CUHK Business School’s Alumni and Corporate Affairs Office is organising a visit to Kai Tak Cruise Terminal on Saturday 21 November. Alumni are invited to accompany wheelchair-bound elderly residents on the relaxing outing, and make the most of the gentle autumn weather! After lunch at Ma On Shan’s Horizon Suite Hotel, trip participants will head to Kai Tak Cruise Terminal in the afternoon, and enjoy beautiful views of Victoria Harbour. Race to Support Those in Need at ‘RBC Race for the Kids’
Enjoy a smartphone-free day out on Sunday 29 November at The Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong’s charity ‘RBC Race for the Kids’, held at Wu Kai Sha Youth Village! Currently in its second year in Hong Kong, the activity raises money for children, youth, and families in need, and features three exciting race categories for attendees to enjoy: a Fun Run & Walk, and Individual 5km and 10km Timed Races. The CUHK Business School and Hong Kong Economic Times Holdings Limited jointly hosted a business talk on 21 September at Kowloonbay International Trade & Exhibition Centre, with YATA CEO and Business School alumnus Mr. Daniel Chong as the guest speaker. In his speech, entitled ‘A New Breed of Manager: Management Wisdom from a Blend of Tradition and Innovation’, Mr. Chong discussed how to build a strong, highly productive team, and demonstrated how his management philosophy had turned YATA into one of the most successful brands in Hong Kong!

The Hyatt Regency Hong Kong hosted the annual MBA Elite Mentorship Program Kick-off Gathering on 24 September, which brought mentors and mentees together at the start of the academic year.
