Get More Out of Google

Learn to use Google’s analytics and marketing tools at a workshop organised by the Alumni and Corporate Affairs Office. Divided into two 60-minute sessions, it will show you how to take your business to the next level with the latest technology. Two guest speakers will cover several topics, including getting the most out of online marketing strategies and effectively using big data. The Taste of Success
After finishing her undergraduate studies, alumna Randy Lai (EMBA 2005) worked for several multinational corporations before joining McDonald’s, the world’s largest chain restaurant. To advance her career, Randy enrolled in the CUHK EMBA program and rose from a marketing executive position to Managing Director of McDonald’s Hong Kong. During her time with the company, she has travelled around Asia and even worked on the frontline, making French fries and serving customers. Angels Spread Their Wings
Earlier this year, the EMBA Alumni Association created the Social Angels Mentorship Program, which connects alumni and students with CEOs from social enterprises needing guidance. The social angels offer advice based on their personal expertise, helping others with the knowledge gained from their time at CUHK. On 6 July, a group of social angels attended a networking event at the Hong Kong Council of Social Service and discussed the difficulties faced by social enterprises and how they hope to make a difference.

Alumni Explore the Wonders of Taiwan
Over 130 alumni gathered in Taiwan for the annual 3-day EMBA (Chinese) Program conference from 3 to 5 June. Led by program director Prof. Jeff Yeung, the alumni learned about the island’s culture, history and environment during a tour of the eastern city of Hualien. The packed itinerary featured stimulating talks by Mr. Chiang Hsun, a painter, poet and writer, and Mr. Stanley Yen, known as the founder of Taiwan’s hotel industry. Discovering Yin and Yang with Prof. Mun Kin Chok

A full house of alumni gathered on 23 May for a talk by Prof. Mun Kin Chok, titled ‘The Co-Existing Yin and Yang’, which was organised by the BBA Alumni Association and the EMBA Program. Prof. Mun is a distinguished scholar of Yin and Yang, which comes from the Zhou Yi, a revered work of classical Chinese literature. Afterwards, graduates attended a celebratory dinner and bid Prof. Mun farewell before he moves to Britain for his retirement.

CUHK Mooncakes for Charity
The CUHK has partnered with Caritas La Vie, a social enterprise which provides job opportunities for the mentally disabled through baking, to produce ‘CUHK Mooncakes’. The two-yolk mooncakes are made with low-sugar white lotus seed paste, and a box of four will cost HK$300. For each box sold, the CUHK‧Care service team will donate a mooncake to elderly people in Shatin and Tai Po, and profits will go to the University’s I‧CARE Program.
