Joining Down Syndrome Friends for a Climate Change Tour

The CUHK Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change received 30 special visitors on Saturday, 16 July, consisting of 15 alumni volunteers joined by 15 friends from the DS Centre (Centre for People with Down Syndrome). Participants spent a pleasant morning learning about climate change through interactive multimedia exhibits, finally retiring for a dim-sum lunch and gift giving at the Chung Chi College Staff Club. Commemorating MBA’s Golden Jubilee Aboard Sun Princess
On 5 July, 100 alumni and their families gathered aboard the world-renowned cruise ship, Sun Princess, where they celebrated the MBA’s 50th anniversary. During a pleasurable visit overlooking the dramatic Victoria Harbour skylines, participants enjoyed informative talks about the cruise company and tips for travel, as well as a tour of the state-of-the-art facilities. A networking luncheon in an elegant dining room concluded one of the year’s most memorable alumni gatherings. Happy participants spoke highly of this interesting experience. Building a Career While Fulfilling More Meaningful Pursuits
Since graduating from CUHK, Polly Ng (BBA 1998; OneMBA 2012) has progressively advanced her career, eventually becoming the Worldwide Sales Operations Director at the multinational corporation Kodak. She did not fall complacent however, taking on the new challenge of becoming managing director at a European consulting firm, where she focuses on tapping into the lucrative Mainland market. To fulfil a more meaningful life, Polly also gives back to society, co-founding Global Women Connect and the Hong Kong Youth Service Leader Award to encourage women and young people to make a difference to the world. GBS Alumna Empowers Women from Developing Countries
Global Business Studies alumna Bonnie Chiu won this year’s Asian Women of Achievement Young Achiever Award in London, which celebrates contributions made by outstanding Asian women. Bonnie is the 23-year-old co-founder and CEO of the non-profit social enterprise Lensational, which empowers marginalised women by training them in photography. Since 2013, Lensational has trained 300 women across nine developing countries. Bonnie is also the Managing Director of The Social Investment Consultancy, and is currently pursuing her master’s degree at the London School of Economics. Read more here.
Supportive Alumni Met at Japan’s AGOS Asia MBA Alumni Fair
Thanks to the kind support of Japanese students, alumni and Alumni Ambassador Mr. Yoji Okada (MBA 2011), the MBA Office formed the strongest team at the AGOS Asia MBA Alumni Fair on 10 July in Tokyo. Potential MBA candidates were impressed by the cutting-edge program and diverse students and faculty. What they found most exciting were the study trips, with interesting stories shared by fellow alumni. The opportunities they enjoyed represented a truly international learning experience.
