Alumni Gather for First-time Homecoming Event

Organized by the Alumni and Corporate Affairs Office, the first Alumni Homecoming Seminar took place Saturday, 29 October in the Executive Education Suite at the Cheng Yu Tung Building. Attended by 40 alumni from Hong Kong and the mainland, it featured distinguished speakers of CUHK who discussed topics such as sustainability, innovation and family businesses at this thought leadership platform, while Dean Prof. Kalok Chan delivered an overview of the Business School’s development. Defying Your Limits and Choosing Your Perspective
Standing at barely 4 feet tall, Josie Tam (MSc in Information and Technology Management 2011) found balance between letting things go while holding fast to her dreams, giving up her steady job in favour of pursuing her entrepreneurial aspirations. Equipped with her IT expertise and more than a decade of experience in fashion logistics and process management, she co-founded Techpacker, a cloud-based fashion tech pack platform that addresses key deficits in the clothing manufacturing process. Helping the Elderly Celebrate
Chinese New Year with a Clean Home
Are you available on Saturday morning, 14 January 2017? If so, come help the elderly residents of Shamshuipo prepare for the Year of the Rooster by cleaning their homes, through a meaningful initiative co-organised by the Alumni and Corporate Affairs Office and the non-profit organisation Sik Sik Yuen. Registration is required and alumni volunteers will be placed in groups and briefed beforehand. Afterwards, all are welcome to join a relaxed dim-sum lunch. A Fun and Friendly Happy Hour
On Wednesday, 5 October, over 120 MBA students and alumni enjoyed Happy Hour at insomnia in Lan Kwai Fong. The first outing of the new semester organised by the Alumni and Corporate Affairs Office, it was also the first Happy Hour event hosted by Ms. Stephanie Villemagne, the new Associate Dean (Graduate Programs) and Director of MBA Programs. Undergraduate Mentorship Program Kicks Off
On Saturday, 15 October, nearly 200 alumni and students attended the Undergraduate Mentorship Program Kick-off Ceremony at the Cheng Yu Tung Building. Co-organised by the BBA Alumni Association and the Undergraduate Office, the gathering celebrated this important initiative, which matched 215 Year-3 and Year-4 students with 106 mentors from a range of industries this year. The kick-off ceremony featured a welcome speech from Dean Prof. Kalok Chan, a scholarship award presentation, and stories shared by outstanding alumni and students. Please read here.

EMBA Alumni Inspired by the CEO of Lan Kwai Fong Group
Over 60 EMBA alumni and friends gathered at Mettā on 10 November for an evening with Mr. Jonathan Zeman, CEO and Director of the Lan Kwai Fong Group. Organised by the EMBA Alumni Association, the event featured Mr. Zeman’s own reflections on his entrepreneurial beginnings and eventual move into property development and IT. He also described his vision for Hong Kong’s own Silicon Harbour, using the digital transformation of the Lan Kwai Fong Group as a case study. “Innovate or Die!” he concluded. Read more here.
