Give the Gift of Cleanliness for Chinese New Year
On Saturday 14 January, alumni volunteers will lend a hand to senior citizens in Shamshuipo, cleaning their homes in preparation for the Year of the Rooster. This meaningful activity was arranged through a partnership with the non-profit organisation Sik Sik Yuen and presents a wonderful opportunity to bond with fellow alumni while doing good in the local community. MBA 50th Anniversary Gala Dinner
Ends Golden Jubilee Campaign on a High Note
The CUHK MBA 50th anniversary celebration took place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on Sunday 4 December. Over 700 people attended the gala dinner, including staff, alumni, students and friends of the Business School. The gathering was also the grand finale of the MBA golden jubilee campaign, concluding a momentous year on a high note. Mr. Richard Li, Chairman and Chief Executive of Pacific Century Group, was the guest of honour and gave a keynote speech. Click here to read the report.
An Era Beyond Comfort Zones
Daisy Cheng (MBA 1981) retired several years ago from a successful career in the financial industry, but remains incredibly active. Presently, she runs a tea house in Central and has served as an MBA elite mentor since 2007. Recently, she was also a member of the MBA 50th Anniversary Gala Dinner Organizing Committee. Daisy believes there are no comfort zones in the new millennium and we must keep learning to achieve success and personal fulfilment. Alumni Gather for Macau Dinner
Ms. Florence Lai, Alumni and Corporate Affairs Director, was a guest at the CUHK Alumni Association in Macau (CUAAM) annual dinner, which took place at the Metropole Hotel Macau and attracted 60 attendees. As the CUAAM was inaugurated last November, this first anniversary event was particularly special. “I’m so glad that during the past 12 months, the alumni association has made tremendous efforts in developing strong ties between Macau alumni and the Business School,” Ms. Lai remarked. Guests Celebrate the Renovation of the MBA Town Centre

The MBA Town Centre Official Relaunch Ceremony took place on Friday 18 November. Over 80 guests gathered to celebrate this important accomplishment during the 50th year of the MBA programs. Housed in the heart of Hong Kong’s financial district in the Bank of America Tower, the fully renovated venue is now much more than a teaching facility and is the ideal location for hosting a range of social and corporate functions thanks to its striking design. Graduate Students Embark Upon a New Chapter
Over 1,300 guests and 770 postgraduate students filled the University Mall on Saturday 19 November for the Master Degree (2015-16) Graduation Ceremony. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Michael Hui opened the ceremony with a speech. Dr. Allan Zeman, Chairman of Lan Kwai Fong Group, and a student representative from the full-time MBA program, also contributed inspiring remarks. EMBA Charity Event Supports the Blind
The third annual Run for Vision charity race, which supports the Hong Kong Blind Union, took place on Sunday 30 October. Co-organised by Run to Your Home, a charity created by a group of EMBA graduates, it aims to make the city a better place. 31 teams consisting of partners with and without visual impairments completed a relay along a five-kilometre stretch of coastline, raising HK$640,000 for various services helping blind people in Hong Kong. Public Forum Explores Political and Economic Development
Join us on Saturday 14 January for the Public Forum on Hong Kong Political and Economic Development 2017. This insightful event will explore the many uncertainties facing the global economy, including the recent US presidential election and the United Kingdom’s vote to leave the European Union, and how they will affect Hong Kong. GBS Alumni Win Service Award
Global Business Studies alumni Bonnie Chiu and Arnold Chan won the Hong Kong Youth Service Award 2016 for their commitment to public service. The awards were presented at a ceremony on Tuesday 8 November. Bonnie oversees Lensational, an organisation dedicated to helping women express themselves through photography, promoting social harmony. Arnold left his job in investment banking to found Teach4HK, a non-profit that connects university students with underserved schools through a one-year teaching fellowship program.
